An imposing eponym
Our establishment can thank its fine-sounding name to twin-peak Mount Lagazuoi in the Fanes group of the Dolomites mountain range.
With an altitude of 2,778 meters, Mount Lagazuoi counts as one of the most impressive massifs of the Dolomites. However, the mountain was not always just a favoured destination for mountain climbers and winter sports enthusiasts. During the First World War, it was theatre to bloody battles.
Altogether five mines were exploded for conquering enemy positions which completely changed the physiognomy of the mountain. Today the reconstructed positions, as well as the tunnels can be visited on easy and moderately difficult walking trails. But, above all, what makes a tour on Mount Lagazuoi so fascinating, are the breath-taking panoramas: to the north, you can see the Fanes range, to the east, the Mount Tofana peak, the Sorapiss Range and Mount Antela, while to the south the Cinque Torri, Civetta, Mount Pelmo and the Marmolata, and to the west, Mount Sella and the Puez range.
