Alta Badia:
The land of the Ladins
Remarkably, the Ladin valleys have succeeded in largely preserving their specific culture and traditions, most of all their language: to this day, Ladin, which derives from vulgar Latin, is still spoken by some 40,000 people in the Dolomite region. At the same time, ancient religious rites and popular customs, typical culinary specialities as well as myths and legend still play an important role in our cultural traditions. Visit the museum of Thurn Castle to get insights into the Ladin people and their traditions past and present.
